Children: The Women & The Empty Tomb (Mark 16)

When Jesus lived on earth he had lots of friends who were women. This week we are looking at a story from the Gospel of Mark which tells us about what happened when some of these special women visited Jesus tomb after he had died. It has a very surprising ending!

This story is such a wonderful reminder that Jesus is alive! Explore it further through these fun activities - a word puzzle, colouring page and word search. To help you remember this story you could make your own craft tomb or you could try constructing a tomb from bits and pieces you find in your garden. You could use rocks, twigs and leaves. You could then use your creation to retell the story to someone in your family.

Can you imagine just how amazing and shocking it would have been to realise that Jesus had returned to life? Find a special piece of paper in your home and imagine you were one of the women who went to the tomb. Write a diary entry about your day and just how wonderful it was!

PRAY

The women were so excited when they realised that Jesus was alive that they rushed to tell the other disciples. We too can follow their example and share the good news of Jesus resurrection with others. Why not make a list of all the reasons why the resurrection is so important and then thank God for raising Jesus. Then, spend time praying for someone that you would like to share this exciting news with.
