Children: Pentecost (Acts 2)

After Jesus died and rose again he appeared to his disciples many times. On one such occasion he promised them that he would send a Helper to be with them always. We met this special helper in Acts 2.

READ & WATCH

You can read about the events of Pentecost in Acts 2 and delve further into the story by watching some fun retellings, here is one and here is another!

THINK

  1. How would the disciples have been feeling after Jesus returned to Heaven?

  2. What did the disciples see and hear when the Holy Spirit arrived?

  3. What was Peter able to do in the power of the Holy Spirit?

EXPLORE

Reflect on the story further as you colour in this picture or complete this word search. Then have a go at making your own fire headband or stained glass window.

One thing the Holy Spirit empowered the disciples to do was to speak so that people from different backgrounds, with different languages, could all understand. Have you ever tried to learn a new language? There are lots of fun videos to help you, like this French one or this counting video in German!

PRAY

We know that if we are friends with Jesus the Holy Spirit also comes to live with us. He helps us each day to listen to God and to become more like Jesus. Why don’t you spend some time praying today and asking the Holy Spirit to help you with something you are struggling to do? It could be something at school, home, at church or with friends? The Holy Spirit is described in the Bible as a Wonderful Counsellor and he is always ready to help us!

SING

This week we have two more fun songs for you to enjoy! The first is called Jesus you're my super hero and the second is - I'm trusting you God. Have fun!
