Children: Jesus feeds 5000 people
What an adventure we have had so far through the Gospel of Mark - so many interesting people! This week Jesus meets over 5000 people and does something INCREDIBLE for them!
READ AND WATCH
Perhaps this is a story you are already familiar with? See what you can recall before reading the story in your Bible. You can find the story in Mark 6:30-44. Here is a video retelling from Saddleback Kids to enjoy as well.
THINK
What did Jesus do when he saw the crowd?
What did Jesus disciples want him to do about the hungry crowd?
What did Jesus do for the 5000 people?
What does this teach us about Jesus?
EXPLORE
Here is a simple colouring page to complete, or for something a bit harder - here is a wordsearch in the shape of a fish! You can also create your own match game by printing this image and following the instructions.
Jesus used just a few fish and loaves to feed 5000 people! Have you ever tried to bake bread? Here is a recipe you could test out at home. If you don’t have all the ingredients, you could make bread and fish out of this simple salt dough recipe - it’s not for eating though! Alternatively, you could do some fish drawings using your own hands as a guide! Why not trace the hands of all your family and make a family of fish?
PRAY
This story teaches us that Jesus is powerful and can perform amazing miracles! He listens to us when we ask and he provides what we need. Why don’t you ask everyone in your household for one thing they would like Jesus to help them with, and then pray for them all? You could record their answers in a special note book and check back in with them in a week.
SING
This week we are learning a classic Colin Buchanan song that I am sure many of you are familiar with - ‘10,9,8 God is Great!’ And if you’ve been enjoying dancing along to some new songs, why not try ‘Love the Lord’.
