Children: Jesus raises a girl from the dead (Mark 5)

As we continue our adventure in the Gospel of Mark, let's quickly reflect on who we have encountered so far...

John the Baptist - who showed us that Jesus was the one God promised he would send.

The man who couldn't walk - who showed us that Jesus has power over sickness and sin

Matthew (Levi) - who showed us that Jesus wants to be friends with everyone.

READ AND WATCH

You can read the story in Mark 5:21-24, 35-43. You can also watch a video retelling of the story here. If you want to interact further with the story, why not download the YouVersion Bible App for Kids? You can read through the story and complete some quiz questions at the end to test your understanding.

THINK

1. What did Jairus ask Jesus to do?

2. What was Jesus response?

3. What happened when Jesus went into the house?

4. What does this teach us about Jesus?

EXPLORE

Dive into this wonderful story further by completing this word search, or having a go at this spot the difference. Can you find all 11 differences? Then why not print out this image and chop it up to make a puzzle. Test your family to see who can reassemble it the fastest! Perhaps you could also recreate a scene from this story using your own home made playdough? A bit like this one.

PRAY

This story reminds us that Jesus has power over death, amazing! Can you make a list of all the things that Jesus has power over and then spend sometime thanking God for each one of them? For example, Jesus has power over sickness - "Thank you Jesus for helping sick people get better."

SING

This week we are blessed with two wonderful songs by our very own Graham French - 'I love you Lord' and 'I'm something really special'. Can you make up your own actions to one of these songs?
